Manchester United are expected to miss

 out on Julian Alvarez of River Plate, with 

Manchester City closing in on the deal. 


City are optimistic of completing the deal 

within a few days, according to transfer guru

 Fabrizio Romano, for a rumoured sum 

of € 16 million plus bonuses. 


"Manchester City board had two meetings

 with Julián Lvarez representatives," he 

claims. The talks have begun, but the release

 clause has not been paid, and it is not yet 

complete. Julián will not join City in January

, but he will be loaned out. In January, Man

 United never started talks to sign lvarez." 


Even if the move goes through, River 

Plate would want to loan him back, thus 

he is unlikely to wear City's sky blue this

  Man Utd have announced on their official   website that Ralf Rangnick will hold his first  press conference as Manchester United  interim manager on Friday morning. They stated: It was announced on Monday that the highly  respected German will take charge of the Reds  until the end of this season, before continuing  in a consultancy role for a further two years. The process of applying for a work permit  meant that Rangnick could not manage United  in tonight’s fixture against Arsenal at Old  Trafford, where Michael Carrick will continue  his role as interim.  We are delighted to confirm that Ralf’s  permit has now been approved and he  will be officially unveiled in front of the media  on Friday morning. Ralf will presumably look forward to his first  match in charge of United, against Crystal  Palace in the Premier League at 14:00 GMT  on Sunday.
