Insider, the former Scotland manager 

said that the 27-year-old has produced for 

the Red Devils when higher-paid players

 such as Paul Pogba have failed. 




Contract talks between Fernandes and 

Manchester United have been put on hold, 

according to the Athletic on Monday (17 January). 


The midfielder is said to have turned 

down an offer in the autumn as he seeks 

parity with his higher-paid teammates. 


His current contract extends until the 

summer of 2025, with a one-year extension

 clause available to United. 


McLeish believes Fernandes is deserving

 of his place among Old Trafford's top earners. 


"Pogba barely plays and he must be one

 of the world's wealthiest men," McLeish

 told Russell Edge of Football Insider. 


"If Fernandes keeps scoring goals, he'll be fine."
