Breaking news : Ralf Ragnick finally confirms Jesse lingard future after Anthony Martial left , has Ralf said this on his Tik Tok account yesterday
Ralf Rangnick has bizarrely confirmed
to a Manchester United fan on TikTok
that Jesse Lingard will be allowed
to leave the club in the summer when
his contract expires.
The 29-year-old midfielder is out of
contract at Old Trafford at the end of
the current campaign and appears
unlikely to sign a new deal.
The England star, who spent the second
half of last season out on loan at
West Ham, has been linked with a
move to Newcastle in this month's
transfer window but it seems the deal
is at risk of collapse.
And Rangnick, United's interim
manager until the end of the season,
appeared to suggest he will definitely
be going in the summer while signing
autographs for fans outside
Old Trafford.
While recording on TikTok a fan, on
the account @phezthered, asked
the German for an update on
Lingard's future and pleaded for him
to stay because he's 'my favourite
player' and 'has got United in his head'.
Then, as he finished writing an
autograph, Rangnick looks up at the
supporter and says 'he will leave
in the summer'.
Despite flourishing at West Ham
last season, Lingard has failed to kick
on and earn regular first-team football
at Old Trafford.
He has made just 14 appearances
this season and played only 273
minutes of football, scoring twice
and adding one assist.
Since Rangnick's first game in
charge against Crystal Palace on
December 5, Lingard has played just
one minute in the Premier League.
As Sportsmail reported on Wednesday
morning, Lingard's move to Newcastle
is in danger of collapsing after the
two clubs failed to agree terms.
Lingard was given the green light
to spend the remaining five months
of his United contract on loan at St
James’ Park following talks with
Rangnick on Tuesday.
However, Newcastle are reluctant
to pay a loan fee and substantial
bonus if they win their battle to stay
in the Premier League, as well
as footing Lingard’s £100,000-
a-week wages.
It’s understood the entire package
could cost the club’s Saudi owners
in excess of £15million.
United sources believe that is not
unreasonable considering Lingard
is an experience England international
and the cost of relegation would
be 10 times that figure.
United have already rejected offers
from Tottenham and West Ham
because they are rivals for a top-four
place, and now have six days to
revive talks with Newcastle or find
an alternative option.
