Breaking news: Ralf Ragnick is frustrated as 7 Manchester United key players rules out of west ham clash , why now ?
West Ham get major boost as SEVEN
Manchester United stars are ruled
out of tomorrow’s Premier League clash
at Old Trafford.
Hammers boss David Moyes brings
his high-flying side to his former club
on Saturday afternoon as the battle for
the top four intensifies.
Fourth-placed West Ham’s 3-2 home
defeat to Leeds last time out has opened
the door for Man United to leapfrog
them with a win.
But Moyes and his boys will be hoping
to slam that door shut in Man United’s face.
The Old Trafford side somehow escaped
with a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture.
West Ham were comfortably the better
side and missed a last gasp penalty to take
a draw – which was the least their
efforts deserved.
West Ham did not have to wait long
for a measure of revenge when they
beat Man United in the Carabao Cup
at Old Trafford three days later.
There is so much riding on this big clash
when it comes to the top four battle.
So having the best possible team
available will be key for West Ham.
Tomas Soucek and Kurt Zouma could
be back involved to give Moyes a lift.
And the Scot has this evening received
a major boost as no less than SEVEN
Man United stars look set to be ruled
out of the match.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Aaron Wan-
Bissaka , Jadon Sancho, Victor Lindelof,
Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly and Edinson
Cavani all look set to miss the game
according to an update on Man
United’s website.
And the game also comes too soon
for the returning Paul Pogba.
Speaking in his pre-match press
conference, Rangnick confirmed Ronaldo
is a doubt with a neck strain. Wan
-Bissaka is injured and Sancho is on
personal leave after a death in the family.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged as a
doubt for Manchester United’s Premier
League game with West Ham United,”
Man United’s website states.
“The no.7 sustained a neck problem
during the 3-1 victory at Brentford in
midweek, when he was substituted for the
closing stages. Although receiving treatment
on the injury, he could face a race
against time in order to be fit for the
15:00 GMT kick-off on Saturday (22 January).
“Interim manager Ralf Rangnick provided
a team news update to club media
after speaking at the pre-match press
conference and confirming that Victor
Lindelof has joined fellow defenders
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw
and Eric Bailly on our list of absentees
, following a break-in at the Sweden
skipper’s home.
“With Paul Pogba not yet ready to
return from injury, there could be better
news regarding Jesse Lingard and
Scott McTominay.
“However, striker Edinson Cavani is
another doubt for the visit of the fourth
-placed Hammers.”
Man United have a ridiculously strong
squad.
But this is a huge chance for West
Ham to get a result given the strength
of Moyes’s side and the fact the Hammers
have had a rare full week off to prepare.
Conversely Man United were in London
on Wednesday night where they somehow
beat Brentford 3-1 despite being second
best for much of the game.
