 form by putting United ahead against Aston

 Villa in their FA Cup third-round tie at 

Old Trafford. 


The Red Devils led the tie at halftime

 thanks to the Scot's excellent glancing 

header from a Fred free-kick. 


The midfield duo has received a lot 

of flak this season, prompting reports that

 Ralf Rangnick is looking to bring in a 

new midfielder in the January transfer

 window. 


Before the game, reports suggested

 that the interim manager was close to 

making his first signing, with Denis 

Zakaria at the top of his wish list.

  Man Utd have announced on their official   website that Ralf Rangnick will hold his first  press conference as Manchester United  interim manager on Friday morning. They stated: It was announced on Monday that the highly  respected German will take charge of the Reds  until the end of this season, before continuing  in a consultancy role for a further two years. The process of applying for a work permit  meant that Rangnick could not manage United  in tonight’s fixture against Arsenal at Old  Trafford, where Michael Carrick will continue  his role as interim.  We are delighted to confirm that Ralf’s  permit has now been approved and he  will be officially unveiled in front of the media  on Friday morning. Ralf will presumably look forward to his first  match in charge of United, against Crystal  Palace in the Premier League at 14:00 GMT  on Sunday.

  Manchester United have reportedly  enquired about signing Marseille midfielder  Boubacar Kamara during the current  winter transfer window. Kamara has entered  the final six months of his contract for  Les Olympiens and is therefore free  to negotiate a contract with other clubs  for the coming summer. However, Manchester United want to  secure Kamara's services during the  winter window for a reduced fee, as Ralf  Rangnick looks to bolster his options  in midfield.
