Breaking news: Tottenham have four options Man Utd may accept in Jesse Lingard transfer swap
Tottenham have four players who
Manchester United may accept as part
of a transfer swap for wantaway midfielder
Jesse Lingard. The England international
return to Old Trafford from an impressive
loan spell at West ham hopeful that he
could earn a place in the Red Devils’
starting line-up.
But game-time has proved hard to come
by for Lingard, who is now set to leave
United at the end of his contract in the summer.
United will need to sell him this month
if they are to bring in any kind of transfer
fee for the 29-year-old.
The Hammers are keen to bring him back
to the London Stadium, while Tottenham
are also reportedly interested in the
midfielder.
Antonio Conte is keen to boost his squad
as he looks to guide Spurs to a top four
place and qualification for the Champions
League with it.
Here, Daily Express Sport looks at four
players who Tottenham could offer in a
swap deal for Lingard…
Tanguy Ndombele
It has not been a successful stay in
London for Tottenham’s record signing
Tanguy Ndombele, who has failed to live
up to his hefty price tag.
Ndombele has though shown the talent
that is waiting to be unlocked and a change
of scenery could be good for him.
The Frenchman is keen to leave Spurs and
he could be suggested as a like-for-like
replacement for Lingard.
Giovani Lo Celso
A knee injury has disrupted Giovani
Lo Celso’s season so far, but he made his
comeback in Tottenham’s win over Watford.
Lo Celso’s versatility could be attractive
to United, with the Argentine able to
play on the wing, in attacking midfield
or in defensive midfield.
Ryan Sessegnon
When he joined Tottenham from Fulham
, Ryan Sessegnon was hailed as one of the
brightest stars in the English game.
His career has taken a set-back at Tottenham
, with the Englishman struggling to find his
place at the club, though he did enjoy a
successful loan spell at Hoffenheim.
Capable of playing at left-back or on the
wing, Sessegnon could provide competition
for the struggling Luke Shaw defense
and a boost to United’s faltering attack.
Japhet Tanganga
Since being promoted to the senior
set-up by Jose Mourinho, Japhet Tanganga
has largely impressed for Spurs.
Tangaga is at home both at right-back
and at centre-back, two positions that
have proven to be weaknesses for United
this season.
The 22-year-old would provide a solid
option at both positions for the Red Devils,
while his young age means that he also
has time to develop.
