Breaking news: as Manchester United set to sign former Chelsea star as a free agent right now , as pre talks continue.

 The January transfer window is ended, and

 clubs will not be able to add contract players

 until the summer. 

Players who are now free agents, on the 

other hand, can still be signed, and there is 

plenty of quality on the market. 

Manchester United did not make any 

additions to their team during the January 

transfer window, but they did let Anthony 

Martial and Donny van de Beek to go on loan. 

In the meantime, City have signed Julian 

Alvarez from River Plate, but the Argentine

 will not join Pep Guardiola's side until the 

summer at the earliest. They also sanctioned 

a number of loans and moves away from the

 Etihad, including the sale of Ferran Torres

 to Barcelona. 

Both teams appear to be in good form 

as the season progresses.
