Breaking news: Paul pogba makes Manchester contract U turn .

Paul Pogba, the star midfielder for Manchester

United, was supposed to leave in the summer

, but could potentially stay after an unexpected

 U-turn.

The World Cup champion is "open to staying

" at United and extending his six-year contract

, according to The Sun, but only if Ragnick

is named the club's permanent manager.

Rangnick took up the United job on an

interim basis in the autumn when Ole

Gunnar Solskjaer was fired, and he is poised

to move into a consultancy role once his

current contract expires. In the dugout, the

63-year-old has had mixed fortunes, most

recently losing on penalties to Middlesbrough

 in the FA Cup.

Pogba has just appeared once under

Rangnick , in last Friday's FA Cup

fourth round defeat.
